• 2007 New Car Extravaganza!

Months ago, in a related article, I covered five new or revised car models set to be launched on the North American market. The Jaguar XK, Saturn Sky, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Land Rover Freelander, and Dodge Nitro are already in showrooms or soon to make their appearance there. Beyond these five there are quite a number of other models also being planned and some have already been released. Lets take a look at five more models catching the attention of auto enthusiasts everywhere.

Nissan Versa Yes, Nissan has its own Scion fighter planned and just in time too as two other cars, the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris, will also be making their debut in the fast crowding Generation Y category. The Versa looks more like a Toyota Matrix as opposed to the bread box looking Scion xB. Available as a four door sedan or five door hatchback, the car will come equipped not stripped and include an AM/FM/CD sound system, air conditioning, 6 speed manny tranny, and power mirrors as standard equipment. Best of all, the roomy Versa will be priced at about $12,000, right in Scion territory.

Saturn Aura Finally, General Motors is paying some serious attention to Saturn, its sometime division. Now that Oldsmobile is out of the way, GM appears ready to take a look at how best to position the Saturn brand. Thanks to GMs European division, Opel, Saturn looks as if it will benefit from a few new models and the Aura sedan is one of them. Powered by a 3.6L V6, the Aura is shapely, stylish, and much more inviting than its L Series predecessor which was also Opel inspired.

Dodge Caliber Dodges Neon replacement goes where no small Dodge has gone before it. The five door wagon/hatchback sits on beefy 19 inch wheels and incorporates the aggressive Dodge crosshairs grille so popular on all of its vehicles. Three engine choices including 1.8L, 2.0L, and 2.4L I4s set the vehicle apart from the crowd. Dodge will be marketing the car well beyond North America in DCXs quest to spread the Dodge brand worldwide. With a base price around $14,000 the Caliber will be competitive. Still, a Mexican built Scion like Hornet will likely become the entry level car within a few years as DCX prepares to take on Scion and the coming cheaply priced Chinese cars.

Volkswagen Minivan A yet to be named minivan will soon be marketed by Volkswagen. Not much has to be done by VW to prepare for the vehicles arrival as it will be a rebadged version of Chryslers successful minivans, the Caravan and Town & Country. Yes, VW is turning to its German competitor to fill a void in its line up. For its part, VW will be sharing technology with DCX in the form of the Scion like Dodge Hornet to be built in Mexico. The Hornet will be based on the VW Polo, another vehicle that may be imported to the US market.

Ford Edge The crossover market heats up with the introduction of the Ford Edge. Marketed between the Escape and Explorer, the Edge will be powered by a 3.5L V6 and be available as front wheel drive people mover or in all wheel drive. Lincoln gets a gussied up version of the Edge called the Aviator.

Other vehicles being introduced include full size trucks and SUVs for General Motors, the Saturn Sky convertible, a revamped Toyota Camry, and new offerings from Kia, Hyundai, and Honda.

The choices for consumers continues to broaden and model year 2007 will be no exception.

  • When Fogs Become a Hindrance to Your Driving

When the fog comes rolling in to your area, you might think this is something that you should not worry about. Children would even love it when this happens because they would feel like they are playing among and amidst the clouds. Even older people love this kind of phenomenon for they are able to have a good relaxing feel around them because fogs oftentimes bring about a cool kind of temperature to everything that it envelopes.

However, on some areas, the fog could get quite heavy and dense that ones visibility is lessened. There are even some instances when the fog is so great that a person could not even see the object right in front of them. When this happens, it is not very advisable for people to move about for they could only bring harm to themselves or to other people. This also goes true for driving.

Driving in the fog is not advisable as according to safety and driving experts. Of course, we all know that driving in the fog could be quite hazardous especially if the conditions are extreme. However, during instances when the fog is not that heavy, one could still drive through it. You should only have to put on your headlights so as to assist you with your visibility.

Your car could also get foggy inside and the very first things that could fog up is your windshield. You can try defrosting it first to get the fog out. Or, so as to be able to reduce the chances of your windshield fogging, you should maintain its cleanliness. You can keep them clean by wiping them down about every two weeks. You can use glass cleaner to do this.

You can also keep out moisture from your car. This moisture could come from various external sources like rain or snow that could come inside your vehicle through your clothes, umbrellas, or shoes. So make sure that you shake them off first before you get inside your car.

Car Loan Calculation Basics and the Three Factors Affecting Your Loan

Borrowing money to purchase a new car can be estimated using a car loan calculation. It is important to estimate the monthly payments that you will ultimately be responsible for when paying back the car loan.

There are three basic factors to think about when shopping for a new loan and are used in the car loan calculation: interest rate, loan principal and loan period. Knowing these three items will enable you to understand how much loan you are able to obtain. Using these to make your loan calculation will help you establish your budget for making the monthly payments.

Finding out the answers to these three questions is as simple as asking your loan officer or going online. Most online lenders have a simple car loan calculator you can access from their web site that will help you determine how much loan you can afford. You can also call lenders and ask them what their lending rates are based on how much you are borrowing and how long you will take out the loan.

Remember that most lenders will want you take out as much loan as you can possibly afford since they will make more money the larger the loan is that you receive. These car loan calculations can give you an estimate of the total costs which you can use to compare against your total income. This will help you determine how much loan you can afford.

To understand the loan process fully, you need to learn and understand what the loan terms refer to. This will help keep your budget on track as you are calculating your loan.

Car Loan Calculation: The Loan Principal

In car loan calculation, the loan principal is the amount of money you originally borrowed. Loan principal is a term used in finance that refers to the original amount of the dept or the original amount of money borrowed. Your total interest charges at the end of the loan period depend on the amount of the loan principal and the loan period. The more principal you borrow the more money you will ultimately be paying back over the course of the loan.

In some cases, the loan principal is used to refer to the amount of money left or still owed after the debt has been partially paid. In this case, the loan principal is sometimes referred to as the remaining loan principal or outstanding balance. With each monthly payment, you slowly but steadily chip away at the total loan principal until the balance is paid off.

In car loan calculation, it is important to know that a good percentage of your monthly payments in the first few months are used to cover the interest costs. Only a small percentage is used to pay off the loan principle. This is most commonly seen in amortization loans. As the loan matures more of your payments will go towards paying down the principal and less to pay the interest of the loan. This process continues until the remaining principal balance is paid off.

    Car Loan Calculation: Interest Rate

The interest rate is usually expressed in percentage and is referred to as the amount of money charged outside the loan principal amount. The lower the interest rate the lower your monthly payments.

    Car Loan Calculation: Loan Period

The loan period refers to the life cycle of the loan, the length of time the borrower agreed to pay back the lender. The longer the loan the more expensive the loan will be.

Car loan calculation is an important part of purchasing a car loan. You can determine how much your loan is going to cost you by utilizing good car loan calculation.

  • Wheel And Tire Maintenance For Your SUV

Your SUVs wheels and tires are one the most essential parts of your vehicle. Because SUVs, such as the Land Rover Range Rover, are 4WD, it can go through any terrain that the planet could offer. And when it does, the tires and wheels of your SUV do not just obviously help you to reach your destination because it is the major equipment that makes your vehicle move. However, the functions of the wheels and tires do not just end there. These parts also emphasize the overall appearance of your vehicle. Moreover, the wheels can actually improve your cars performance just by effective cleaning. Like any other car parts like Land Rover Range Rover parts, SUV wheels can eventually be corrosive and tires could wear out because of certain factors.

Getting your SUV perfectly cleaned on a local car wash is a great idea. However, the only drawback of it is the cost that you would be spending in a car wash. Why go to a car wash if you could clean your wheels by yourself, right? So here are some few guides in effective cleaning and maintenance of your vehicles wheels and tires.

Before we proceed to the cleaning session, first you should know the factors that made your wheels and tires unpleasant. Whenever you use your SUV for a long travel or even in a short trip, dust particles attack the surface of your wheels. Other unwanted dirt on your wheels and tires include road tars, mud, and different soil crumbs. Acid rain and winter salt are effective destroyers that can make your wheels brittle.

Cleaning your wheels and tires is actually the first step in car washing. You should first select a certain cleaner for your wheels and tires. There are a lot of cleaning agents out in the market today but you should choose the safest and most effective cleaning agent for your wheels and tires. Some cleaning agent contains a high level of acidity and can easily damage your wheels. Acid-free cleaners are effective cleaning agents that are commonly used by car wash shops. The most common cleaner is the household detergent because you can find it anywhere in your kitchen, or toilette, of course. Not only that, detergent is also effective and is the safest cleaner because it does not contain any harmful ingredients that can affect your car. Wheels and tires of SUVs are much larger and broader than other vehicles so the cleaning process most likely will take longer compared to sedans.

Now let us start with the cleaning process. First, you should check your tires for road dirt and mud. If you found one, then scrape it with any hard object you can find in your place, but be careful not to scratch your tires so hard. Dilute your chosen cleaner in a bucket of water and then start brushing your tires. The grooves of your tires are the most susceptible to mud and road tars. Brush it effectively. After cleaning your tires, proceed to the wheels. Rinse the brush that you had used in your tires and start brushing your wheels in up and down motion. Pretty easy, right? You should actually clean your wheels and tires once a month for maintenance.

Car Loan Bad Credit History – Will Bad Credit Or Bankruptcy Affect Approval?

If using a bank or credit union, financing a new or used vehicle may pose a problem. Although you can obtain a car loan with a bad credit history, your choice of lenders is limited. For the most part, traditional auto lenders prefer applicants with a good credit rating. If your credit is good, you will qualify for a low rate. On the other hand, if your credit rating is low, these lenders may charge excessive fees, which will increase monthly payments.

Pitfall to Financing a Vehicle with Poor Credit

Bad credit will not prevent you from getting a car loan. Nonetheless, you must apply for a loan with the right lenders. If buying a car from a dealership, try and secure your own financing. The dealership is taking a risk when approving a bad credit application. Hence, they will charge more fees.

Similarly, if you have a recent bankruptcy, you should anticipate outrageously high finance fees. There are tips for getting an acceptable car loan with a bad credit history. To avoid getting trapped in a bad car loan, do not rush the car buying process.

Tactics for Getting a Car Loan with Bad Credit

If you must finance a vehicle with poor credit, pick an inexpensive vehicle. This way, the total financed is less. Moreover, it may help to apply for a car loan with a down payment. In some instances, lenders will offer a lower rate if you put money down on a vehicle. Using a co-signer who has good credit may also increase your chances of getting an acceptable car loan.

Of course, improving your credit rating will greatly improve your odds of snagging a decent car loan with poor credit. If your credit score is below 600, you may receive an interest rate up to 18%. However, higher scores receive better interest rates. Thus, attempt to increase your score by forty or fifty points before applying for a car loan.

Take Advantage of High Risk Lenders

High risk or sub prime lenders approve car loans for people with bad credit. To find a reputable lender, contact a local auto lender and inquire about sub prime loans. Some traditional lenders do offer these types of loans. Furthermore, dealerships may work with sub prime lenders. If you are hoping to compare various offers before choosing a lender, work with an online auto loan broker.

  • Tips On Choosing A Boating Stereo Systems

By choosing a quality marine stereo system you can have a longer life and better performance from your boating stereo systems in a wet environment. The difference is to buy a stereo system that is coated to withstand moisture, salt, air and UV light. So how can you find the right boating stereo system for your boat? By following the next few tips.

First you need to consider any limitations such as the size and installation dimensions. This is especially important if you are replacing an existing stereo. Most marine stereos have their own DIN or dash installation size. This is typically seven inches wide and two inches high.

However, for some manufacturers these sizes will vary. If you have a stereo that you like which won’t fit in your previous compartment then you can consider a gimbal mount. This allows you to mount the stereo under the dash or in any other location you prefer. Just make sure it is either covered or in a protected area to prevent damage due to spray or splash over.

Next you want to consider the power output. For a amplifier there are two different power measurements to use. The first is peak output, which is the maximum power that the amplifier can give in an instant. A quality system can produce up to forty or fifty peak watts of power per channel.

The second is RMS output. This is the average power than an amplifier can produce over time. A quality unit can produce between fifteen to twenty RMS watts per channel. For medium to small sized boats this is plenty of power to get good sound quality. For larger boats you don’t necessarily need more power, but rather may want to add more speakers and amplifiers to cover a larger area.

Finally you want to consider the features offered by the stereo system. When it comes to the price of a stereo system it isn’t really the power that make the influence, but rather it is the features. Consider some features you may want that will increase the price of your boating stereo systems.

The biggest difference is between weather resistant and waterproof. All types of marine stereos are weather resistant. A weather resistant system means you won’t have corrosion due to a humid environment. Some weather resistant systems can also protect against UV exposure to the sun.

However, weather resistant units aren’t the same as waterproof in the sense that water can get into the unit and damage it. If you plan on having your stereo somewhere that it will frequently get wet then you may want to spend the additional money for a waterproof unit.

Another added feature is that of the wireless or wired remote. Just keep in mind that most remotes are line of sight oriented which means a stereo in the cabin may not be controllable by remote when you are on deck. Some wireless remotes can work by pointing at speakers instead of the unit, which would work if you weren’t within a line of sight for the unit. You should consider this before purchasing a marine stereo unit.

  • What You Should Do After An Automobile Accident

So you’re driving down the street with your family and/or friends and suddenly you and another vehicle hit each other and now you are in a state of panic in the driver seat. Here are a few guidelines to help you through with your troubling problem.

Stay clam. After an automobile collision, a person can feel up to a varying and multiple amounts of emotions that may affect the way he or she can handle the current situation. It is best to clam yourself down by using whatever methods work best for you such as taking deep breath or counting to some arbitrary number. Once you are in a clam state you are better able to handle the situation.

Check for injuries. Depending on the seriousness of the automobile collision, there may be people injured. If it is a minor injury, try to assist the injured person however for more serious injuries, call an ambulance.

Call the police. Once the people are safe call the local police and update them with the current facts. Give them facts and not some ambiguous information such as “I wasn’t speeding” and instead respond with a concise answer like “I was driving at 40 miles per hour”.

Write everything down. Get the information of anyone directly involved in the accident such as their names, driver license numbers, date of births, addresses. You should also take down the cars’ license number and state that issued the license of the cars involved in the accident as well as the license number and state that issued the license of cars nearby as the police can track them down to use as witnesses.

Call your insurance agent. The sooner you call your agent the better it is for you. They will give you information that will help you get over this problem and get you back onto your life.

Don’t sign any document that is unfamiliar. Signing something without knowing what it is, is an insanely moronic practice to begin with so it should apply here as well. Even the police explain to you what you are signing, which is usually an automobile collision and also your insurance agent explaining what you are signing as well.

Call your lawyer. The sooner you get into contact with your lawyer, the better it is for you. They can clarify any legal ramifications that you may questions about relating to your automobile collision so that you may better understand the current situation that you are in.

Ask questions. Though the police, your insurance agent and your lawyer may give you information, they will assume that you will know about everything in-between if you don’t ask any questions. Even if you are remotely confused about something it is better to ask now rather than finding out how it can hurt you later.

  • Where To Find Nissan Parts

Nissan parts are a very important part of Nissan cars. Since the company’s inception in 1933, many sleek, powerful and affordable automobiles have come off of the production line. Just as there have been quality Nissan cars, there have been Nissan parts manufactured to fit them.

Every auto part that is purchased for Nissan cars will ultimately play a large role in the way that the automobile looks and operates. Nissan cars should always be repaired using authentic Nissan parts. From hoods to hubcaps, mirrors to spoilers and even wheels, Nissan cars feature a sleek design combined with affordable pricing.

Without quality Nissan parts, the performance of Nissan cars would not be the same. Quality, workmanship and dependability are all a part of what Nissan puts into their manufacturing. If you own a Nissan car that needs repair, it is recommended that you take it to an auto parts garage that offers Nissan parts. A specialized Nissan dealer would be ideal but, if there isn’t one in your area, any garage or body shop should be able to place a special order for the Nissan parts that are needed.

Before having any work done, ask the repair specialist about pricing on Nissan parts. Get an estimate, for both parts and labor, in writing before making a final decision on who will repair your car. If necessary, stop by more than one garage and inquire about repairing or replacing auto parts for Nissan cars. It’s very important to get a qualified repair specialist to perform any type of work on your automobile. Ask any questions that you feel are important when considering the purchase of Nissan parts and/or repair.

As is the case with most quality products, Nissan parts often carry a warranty on their operation. It’s a good idea to inquire about these warranties before purchasing. Once the purchase is made and the Nissan parts are installed, it’s a good idea to keep all warranty paperwork tucked away in a safe place for later retrieval. In addition, the garage that installed the Nissan parts may offer a warranty on their work. Be sure to inquire about this, as well, and keep any additional paperwork relating to the purchase or installation of your new Nissan parts.

Nissan cars are extremely popular among auto enthusiasts. Some are known for their classic family design while others are manufactured with a sports car theme. No matter the design on Nissan cars, one thing is for certain. A company that has been in business for this many years is here to stay and, if Nissan cars are any reflection on the company that manufactures them, they are here to stay as well.
